||Assists a firefighter that has been injured or killed while performing fire department duties. The fire departments local Firefighters' Relief Fund Board of Trustees maintains the local funds. All insurance companies licensed to do business in North Carolina are required to report the Firefighters' Relief Fund tax to the North Carolina Department of Revenue by March 15 of each year. This tax is transferred to the North Carolina Department of Insurance for disbursement to fire departments that meet all NC General Statute requirements.
Funds for 2008-09 have not been distributed.
