| Description |
In order to expand its ongoing Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Initiative, the NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund Commission (HWTFC) provides grant funding to support efforts that prevent and reduce tobacco use among North Carolina college students who are between the ages 18 and 24. Funds are provided to colleges, universities, community colleges and other organizations that are eligible to receive HWTFC funds for projects that: (1) Prevent initiation of tobacco use among young adults ages 18-24; (2) Eliminate exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke on college campuses; (3) Promote tobacco use cessation among young adults ages 18-24; and (4) Eliminate tobacco-related health disparities among young adults ages 18-24. |
| Grantee Eligibility |
1) A state agency,
2) A local government or other political subdivision of the state or a combination of such entities (includes local education agency and/or public charter schools), or
3) A nonprofit organization which has a significant purpose promoting the public's health, limiting youth access to tobacco products, or reducing health consequences of tobacco use. |
