| Description |
The overall goal for the use of CRFL funds is to manage and enhance the marine resources of North Carolina based on sound science and strategies. The Strategic Plan for the Conservation and Improvement of North Carolina Marine Resources sets forth a framework of objectives and strategies to meet this goal. The framework provides the basis upon which to evaluate and select proposals seeking CRFL funds. The objectives and strategies described have been compiled based on priority research needs in Fishery Management Plans approved by the Marine Fisheries Commission, issues identified in the Coastal Habitat Protection Plan (CHPP), and needs identified cooperatively with other agencies' research plans. There are three important programmatic areas identified as necessary to achieve this goal -- Fish, Habitat, People. Each Year the Request for proposals (RFP) delinieates the project activities that will be considered for the current funding cycle. Visit the program's website to see the most recent RFP (www.ncdmf.net/CRFL/index.html). A new RFP will be released in June each year with proposals due by July 31st of that year. Please note that multiple fund codes are used based on the projects. The specific amount of funding available varies by year and is determined by CRFL sales. |
