Description The Acute and Home Care Licensure and Certification Section was created March 2006. The Section is comprised of three clusters (teams): Acute Care, Home Care, and CLIA (clinical laboratory improvement amendments). Providers obtain a license and/or certificate issued by the Section in order to provide healthcare services to the public. Licensure and certification also allows a provider the ability to participate in the state Medicaid and/or federal Medicare programs. Regulatory responsibilities of the Acute and Home Care Section include: (a) processing and issuing initial and amended licenses, (b) conducting state licensure and federal recertification surveys, (c) conducting complaint investigations,(d) conducting follow-up surveys, and (e) educating providers. Surveys completed by the Acute and Home Care Section determine a provider's compliance with state and federal regulations. When a provider is found to be out of compliance, an administrative sanction may be imposed. The Acute and Home Care Section work with providers, residents and others in the areas of training, policy development, and interpretation of laws and rules.
