| Description |
The Family Caregiver Support Program (FCSP) is federally funded through the Older Americans Act with a focus on leveraging funds, building capacity,and promoting sustainable resources for family caregivers providing regular care or assistance for an age 60 plus friend or relative. 10 percent of funds may be used for older grandparents or relatives providing primary care of minor children. Priority groups:older adults with greatest social and economic need;those providing primary care for children with mental retardation and developmental disabilities, and those with limited English speaking abilities. With 44% of NC caregivers caring for someone with dementia, we are also targeting dementia caregivers. The client is the caregiver. Five categories of service are allowed: 1)public information on caregiver issues and resources (health fairs, presentations, media events, etc); 2)assistance with access to information and services; includes formal information and assistance, assessment, care planning and care management; 3)support groups, caregiver training, and caregiver counseling; 4)respite to provide temporary relief from caregiving duties (in-home assistance, |
