| Description |
The MH Licensure and Certification Program (MH Program) consisted of three branches through SFY 2007--the Psychiatric Branch, the ICF/MR (Intermediate Care Facilities for the Mentally Retarded) Branch, and the Mental Health Licensure Branch. As of 7/1/07, the psychiatric hospitals and units moved to the Acute and Home Care Program. The MH Program now consists of two branches: the ICF/MR Branch has regulatory responsibility for ICF/MR facilities; the MH Licensure Branch has regulatory responsibility for Mental Health, Developmental Disability (non ICF/MR) and Substance Abuse licensed services. Regulatory responsibilities of the MH Program (for ICF/MR and MH/DD/SA services) include: (a) processing and issuing initial and change licenses, (b) conducting annual and recertification surveys (as applicable), and (c) conducting complaint and follow-up investigations. The MH Program determines compliance with state and federal (Medicaid) regulations where applicable. It conducts surveys requiring correction and imposes administrative sanctions based on non-compliance in order to improve the quality of care provided to clients. |
