| Description |
The Medical Examiner system investigates all unnatural, suspicious, traumatic, or unattended deaths in North Carolina through a network of county medical examiners and regional pathologists to provide timely, accurate reports of investigative results to families, law enforcement agencies and other interested parties. Through its Child Fatality Prevention Team, the program reviews and further investigates child deaths and provides training to law enforcement, health care and other local agencies on proper techniques for child death investigations. |
