Description The program serves individuals 55 plus at 125 percent of the federal poverty level. The Division's SCSEP serves individuals in 26 of the 100 counties in the state. National SCSEP sponsors administer the program in the other 74 counties. The program is mandated by the Older Americans Act and administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. The number of positions and funding the program receives each year is based on funding made available through the U.S. Department of Labor. Participants are first placed in community service assignments at locations such as social services agencies, health departments, councils on aging, nutrition sites, senior centers, etc. Once they acquire new skills, the local program coordinator works with participants to find employment.
