| Description |
Each of the 17 area agencies on aging receives $5,882 in annual state funding. At its discretion, area agencies award funding to senior centers within their region. Funding provides senior center services to unserved or underserved communities with emphasis on identifying individuals who are in a rural setting, are in greatest economic and social need (with emphsis on low income, minority individuals), have severe disabilities, have limited English speaking ability, have Alzheimer's related disorders, and those who have caregiver responsibilities. Funding may also be used as start-up funding for new senior centers. |

Funding is awarded equally to each of the 17 area agencies on aging. At their discretion, area agencies determine which senior centers receive funding and the amount of funding for each center. |
