| Description |
Through ARRA funding to the State Energy Program, North Carolina is significantly increasing its investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy, building its sustainable energy economy and workforce and promoting innovation and development of new energy technologies and resources.
North Carolina is focusing on six areas for federal Recovery Act State Energy Program. The six focus areas and the associated Request for Proposal Program Titles are as follows:
1) Supporting small businesses and industry through energy savings
Energy savings for small business and industry
Main Street¿ communities
Commercial renewable energy system grants
Nonprofit energy management program
2) Growing North Carolina¿s green workforce through JobsNow
Workforce development initiative
Continuing education for residential and commercial building code inspectors
3) Developing an Energy Investment Revolving Loan Fund
Energy Loan Fund
4) Improving government energy efficiency
Developing energy assessments and strategic energy plans (Technical Assistance)
Energy efficiency upgrade grants
5) Promoting residential energy efficiency and renewable energy
Promoting energy efficiency in new affordable housing units
Energy efficiency audits and implementation for existing homes
6) Fostering renewable energy technology and resource innovation.
