| Description |
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission wishes to:
-connect deer hunters and food donation organizations
-collect useful biological data on an important wildlife species
-provide food for those in need.
Toward these ends the Commission has decided to make available $25,000 in grant funds toward this effort. Grant applicants must submit a propsal demonstrating how they would meet the following conditions. Must have at least one meat processor, which will process wild deer and are inspected by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Must provide donated and processed venison to charitable food organizations for distribution to North Carolinians in need.
Commission grant funds must be distributed equitably among participating processors.
100% of Commission grant funds will be spent only on processing wild deer (no domestic livestock, no overhead, administrative fees, etc.).
No officer or official of the applicant may directly benefit from these funds.
Grantee will provide a comprehensive report on the expenditure of Commission funds.
Grant applicants should also review the reporting and other regulatory requirements for receiving state funds as specified at www.ncgrants.gov .
