Description The Arts in Communities (AIC) Program works with local arts councils and other community arts organizations in all 100 counties to create and sustain innovative arts programs that help build healthier communities.
Grantee Eligibility The Grassroots Arts Program annually distributes funds for local arts programs to all of North Carolina's 100 counties on a per capita basis. Local arts councils serve as the agencies that distribute these funds. As Designated County Partners (DCP, they have the responsibility of developing and executing annual plans to contribute to the overall development of the arts. DCPs use Grassroots money for their own programs and administration but also make subgrants to arts groups, schools, libraries, recreation departments, community centers, civic groups, youth organizations, healthcare facilities, and other organizations. In counties without DCPs, the NCAC selects organizations to serve as Provisional County Partners (PCP)to oversee the distribution and management of Grassroots funds on a temporary (year-to-year) basis. Regional Arts Partners(RAP)are DCPs that are responsible for overseeing the distribution of Grassroots funds in neighboring rural counties.
